On the afternoon of September 4th, the opening ceremony for the freshmen of 2025 in the College of Materials Science and Engineering was grandly held in the Wenhui Auditorium of Lihu Campus. Li Yonghua, Vice President of Shenzhen University, Party Secretary Lv Qian of the College of Materials Science and Engineering, Dean Wang Lei, Vice Dean Zhu Deliang, Vice Dean Chen Xiaoqiang, Vice Dean Wang Dong, Vice Dean Hu Lipeng of the College of Materials Science and Engineering, some faculty members of the college and the undergraduate and postgraduate students of the class of 2025 attended the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Li Xiaoping, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee.

The ceremony kicked off with the solemn national anthem. Li Yonghua first delivered a speech on behalf of the university, extending a warm welcome and sincere congratulations to all the freshmen. Drawing on the remarkable achievements made by the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone over the past 45 years, he encouraged the students to firmly grasp the opportunities brought by the development of the city and the university, and to fulfill the responsibilities and commitments of the youth in the new era.

Subsequently, Lv Qian, on behalf of the college, extended a warm welcome to all the freshmen of the class of 2025 and briefly introduced the college's development history and educational achievements. Lv Qian also elaborated on the college's enrollment situation this year. The enrollment scale for both undergraduate and postgraduate students has continued to expand, effectively demonstrating the strong appeal of the materials discipline to a large number of young students.

At the ceremony for the appointment of the new undergraduate class advisors, the college leaders presented appointment letters to the five new undergraduate class advisors and encouraged all the class advisors to adhere to their original intention of educating people in their future work and strive to cultivate more well-rounded talents.

During the "Teacher's Talk · Sailing" forum session, the college invited six outstanding professional teachers, namely Wang Lei, Wang Dong, Hu Lipeng, Liu Wenjun, Han Shun and Yang Jinlong, to answer questions and provide guidance for the freshmen.

This opening ceremony not only kicked off the college life for all the freshmen, but also made them deeply feel the earnest care and high expectations of the university and the college. The freshmen of 2025 will write a youthful chapter worthy of the times with their hard work and sweat on this land of Shenzhen, which is full of innovation and vitality.
