On the afternoon of September 11, 2025, the college of Materials Science and Engineering held a meeting for all the head teachers of the new semester in the autumn of 2025. Li Xiaoping, the deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the college, university instructor Zhou Yan, Xia Junyi, Wu Duanyang and Liu Ying, as well as all the class advisors attended the meeting. They made arrangements for the key matters of class management and student services in the new semester, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent educational work.

1. Clarify the key points of administrative work and standardize the promotion of student services
The meeting first made arrangements for the key tasks that need to be advanced in the new semester and clarified the implementation requirements to ensure that all tasks are carried out in an orderly manner. To facilitate the standardized record-keeping work of head teachers, the content of the head teacher's work record book was also introduced simultaneously at the meeting. Specifically, it includes key information for recording work such as face-to-face talks with students, academic guidance, dormitory visits, and organization of class activities, to help ensure that work is traceable and the ledgers are clear.
In terms of providing support for class teachers to carry out class work, the college has made class meeting PPTs based on the characteristics of each grade. Class teachers can flexibly adjust and use them according to their own work experience and the actual situation of their classes. Meanwhile, the college also encourages each class to actively carry out team-building activities to enhance class cohesion, and shares the evaluation questions for head teachers, providing references for subsequent work assessment and optimization improvement, and further supporting the work of head teachers. In addition, there are two specific tasks that require the assistance of the class teacher to be implemented in the near future: The first is the work of identifying difficulties. During the process, the class teacher needs to carefully check the students' situations and prudently distinguish special circumstances to ensure the fairness and accuracy of the identification. Second, the selection of outstanding student cadres in each class must ensure that the process is open and transparent.
2. Conduct training for new student head teachers to consolidate the foundation for job performance
To help the new student head teachers quickly familiarize themselves with the work process and clarify the boundaries of their responsibilities, the meeting specifically conducted training for new student head teachers, with a focus on interpreting the college's head teacher management measures and specific job responsibilities. Considering that the new student head teachers are just getting started with class management, they need to focus on the actual pain points in their work. The specific content of the training is closely centered around the core needs of new student class management, covering guidance on new student adaptability, initial planning for class academic atmosphere construction, communication skills, and the collaborative working mechanism with university instructor, etc.

3.Share the experiences of outstanding head teachers and exchange practical methods for nurturing students
During the session for sharing experiences of outstanding head teachers, Teacher Han Ting, drawing on her experience in class management, shared her insights on class construction and student guidance, providing all head teachers with valuable educational ideas for reference. Teacher Han Ting pointed out that the first-class meeting for freshmen is a crucial starting point for building class cohesion. It is necessary not only to establish the authority of the class teacher through clear requirements and responsibility transmission, but also to bridge the gap with students through sincere communication and avoid rigid preaching. She mentioned that in her first-class meeting, she shared her insights on professional learning and growth planning with the students by taking her own college life experiences as the starting point. Subsequently, students were also organized to jointly design the class flag, class emblem and create the class song. Through the process of "joint participation and joint creation", students' sense of belonging to the class and collective cohesion were effectively enhanced. The practical methods he shared have provided practical references for other head teachers, especially those for new students.

This meeting has mapped out a clear path for the new semester's head teacher work in the college of Materials Science and Engineering by clarifying the key points of head teacher work, strengthening the performance capabilities of new student head teachers, and sharing excellent educational experiences. In the future, the college of Materials Science and Engineering will take more solid measures to enhance the quality of class management and the level of student services, and effectively support students' growth and success.
