To deeply carry forward the red gene and cultivate students' patriotic feelings, on the evening of April 16th, the School of Materials Science and Engineering held a profound patriotic education lecture in the C101 Lecture Hall of the library at Lihu Campus. This lecture specially invited two veterans who participated in the Self-Defense counterattack against Vietnam to share battlefield stories with teachers and students and convey the spirit of taking responsibility for the country and the family.

At the beginning of the lecture, Wang Lei, the dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, introduced the two guests in detail to the teachers and students present. Liang Shangying, currently the general manager of Shenzhen Baoshan Mingshui Industrial Co., Ltd. and the supervisor of Shenzhen Shandong Chamber of Commerce, has been awarded the Second-Class Merit and the Third-Class Merit. Qiu Yinglin was invited by the Veterans Affairs Bureau of Bao 'an District and Xin 'an Sub-district to serve as a lecturer for the patriotic education propaganda team and was also awarded the Second-Class Merit.

Veteran Liang Shangying delivered a passionate speech, taking teachers and students back to those cruel wars and chaotic times. In the fierce battle, he was unfortunately injured as well. But even after going through the test of life and death, he has always held his post and never backed down. These real and tragic experiences not only reveal the cruelty and ruthlessness of war, but also highlight the brave and fearless spirit of Chinese soldiers. All the teachers and students present were deeply moved, and many of them had moist eyes.

Finally, amid warm applause, the teachers and students took a group photo with the veterans Liang Shangying and Qiu Yinglin, and the lecture came to a successful conclusion.
