The competition was hosted by the College of Materials Science and Engineering of Shenzhen University, with a total of 83 contestants. The competition strictly followed the norms and standards of the National University Metallographic Skills Competition, and the contestants needed to complete a series of complex processes such as grinding polishing, and etching of samples within 30 minutes. The competition was judged by Xie Shenghui, Xiang Xiongzhi, and Qian Haixia, and scored strictly according to the standards of the National Competition.
On 31st May, the college held a grand award ceremony in Room 534. Vice Dean Hu Lipeng summarised and looked forward to the event, he fully affirmed the excellent performance of all the participating students and hoped that the students who won the first prize could represent the school to achieve success in the upcoming provincial and national competitions. He also encouraged students to actively participate in other disciplinary competitions to continuously develop their practical skills, innovative thinking, and ability to solve practical problems, to lay a solid foundation for further studies or work in the future.
From the preparation, and training to the competition stage, this competition has been highly valued by the leadership of the college, the professional guidance of Mr. Xie Shenghui, the full support of the Experimental Centre, the special financial support of the Ministry of Academic Affairs and the hard work of the volunteers of the Youth League Committee. This not only fully demonstrated our students' in-depth study of professional knowledge and the use of practical skills, but also a vivid practice of the concept of “promoting teaching, reforming and learning through competition”. The college will continue to do a good job in innovation and entrepreneurship education, create a good academic atmosphere, and constantly strengthen the construction of learning style, and strive to cultivate students to become high-quality composite talents needed by society.
