The 3rd College of Materials Science and Engineering of Shenzhen University “Liyuan Materials Cup” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition was held on the morning of April 12, 2026, in Yingxue Hall (Room 236), Wentao Building, Lihu Campus, under the theme “Deep Knowledge of Materials, Boldly Creating the Future.” The competition was organized by the College of Materials Science and Engineering, hosted by the College’s Communist Youth League Committee and the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Office, and chaired by Teacher Zhao Jinlai. Li Xiaoping, Deputy Secretary, delivered an opening address, emphasizing that the competition serves as a bridge for the transformation of “research, industry, and talent.” Li Xiang, representing the expert judges, affirmed the foundational role of materials science.

This year’s competition featured both an entrepreneurship track and an academic track, with 10 teams competing against each other. During the roadshow sessions, contestants used PowerPoint presentations to show their technological barriers and industry roadmaps, and the judges posed questions regarding technical feasibility and market potential.

After a fierce competition, the contest selected several outstanding teams. Following the event, group photos were taken, and the teams received guidance and were interviewed to help them refine and optimize their projects.

Over the course of three editions, the competition has attracted more than 40 teams across fields such as energy, biotechnology, and smart materials, establishing itself as a key platform for the college to cultivate innovative and enterprising talents. The college stated that it will continue to use the competition as a bridge to promote the integration of industry, academia, and research.
