On the afternoon of May 28, 2025, the College of Materials Science and Engineering at Shenzhen University welcomed 50 high school students from Guangzhou Middle School for an educational science outreach event. Coordinated by Mr. Wang Dagang from the Experiment Center, the event featured five carefully prepared science demonstration experiments.

1. Sodium-Zinc Power: Led by graduate student Lin Zhihao from Distinguished Professor Hu Zhe's team, students assembled button batteries themselves and successfully lit small LED bulbs. This hands-on activity deepened their understanding of battery technology and allowed them to experience the fascinating process of energy conversion in new energy materials.

2. Organic Optoelectronics Playground: Doctor Zou Yang demonstrated the development history of organic optoelectronic materials and their applications in displays, particularly highlighting flexible screens, which greatly captured the students' interest.

3. 3D Dream Factory: Mr. Zeng Yuxiang introduced the principles and applications of 3D printing technology, showcasing how it transforms creative ideas into reality. Students gained an appreciation for the charm of modern manufacturing techniques.

4. Microscopic Explorers: Mr. Luo Junxuan guided students in using a desktop scanning electron microscope to explore the micro-world. They observed everyday samples like hair and plant tissues, gaining a direct and intuitive understanding of microscopic structures.

5. Mechanics Magicians: Mr. Zhuang Juncheng introduced various material specimens used for testing mechanical properties and demonstrated how to conduct tensile tests using a universal material testing machine and an impact tester.

Through this event, the students from Guangzhou Middle School not only gained a deeper understanding of materials science but also experienced the fun and allure of scientific experimentation. It is hoped that such outreach activities will inspire more students to develop a passion for materials science, contributing to the cultivation of future scientific and technological talent.
